Meet Captain Matt Maddox

I've spent a lot of time on these waters — the Halifax, the backwater flats, the nearshore reefs — and I'm still not tired of it. That probably tells you everything you need to know about why I do this.

I run private trips out of Daytona Beach, and I've been at it long enough to know where the fish are, how they move with the seasons, and what it takes to put a group of people on the water and send them home with a great story. Whether you're a serious angler or you've never touched a rod in your life, the plan is the same: get you out there, have a good time, and catch some fish.

The boat's a 22-foot Sundance center console — restored in 2024, handles great in these waters, and set up specifically for the kind of fishing we do here. Light tackle, live bait when it makes sense, and a flexible approach based on what's biting that day.
